The 1st law of nutrition “Eat a Variety of Food”

There is no such natural food that contains all the nutrients the body needs to function properly, every food has something that could harm the body when eaten too often.
Food, aside from giving us the nutrients we need for our daily lives, is now used as a symbolism of our life style; steaks for the rich and dried fish for the poor. We even eat certain types of food for certain occasion, cakes for birthdays, and wines for anniversary and so on. Certain types of religion restrict themselves some certain type of food; Muslims doesn’t eat pork, Christians doesn’t eat red meats during lent season, and Buddhist restrict all the types of meat. All of which affects their capabilities to eat a variety of food.

And there are people who have their own belief about food and how it will affect their health, believing that certain kind of food can cure them or can harm them, a good example for this is the belief that when you eat pork you will surely die of heart attack which is not 100 percent true, eating pork doesn’t cause heart attack but the fats in pork contains high amount of cholesterol that could lead to cholesterol build up in the heart that could cause heart problem-to prevent heart attack remove the fatty parts of the meat. Eating pork is not the problem but eating too much of it, pork contains high amount of Vitamin B1 and a good source of protein, you should not completely remove it from your list, remember there is no such thing as “bad food only bad diet”, so don’t eat too much pork, try different kinds of food and surely you will have all the nutrients your body needs to function properly.

People are now aware of the importance of fiber in the diet -reduce weight healthy colon etc, now some people take advantage of it, selling fiber in form of a capsule, but did you know that too much fiber can wash away all the nutrients you eat? there is no good thing of too much.

Again, to have a healthy body you must start in a healthy and nutritious diet, and to achieve that you must eat a variety of food every day, so you can have all the nutrients given by God through the nature. Have an exciting diet, challenge yourself by trying different kind of cooking and preservation, keep in mind there is no bad food; you can eat all the type of food you want as long as it won’t result to a bad diet, which is eating too much or too little. Keep yourself active in most days of the week, exercise explore the world and enjoy your life, of course don’t forget to drink your water at least 8 glasses every day to remove the toxins inside your body and spend some time to relax and rejuvenate yourself for such a busy weekend, surely you will live an energetic and healthy body and a blissful life.

Nutrition in our Life

We mostly hear about nutrition on TV Ads, through the internet, food supplements and even from our family, friends and peers but what does nutrition actually mean? What is its importance to our life? Such is the question we mostly ask ourselves.

What does nutrition actually mean and what is its importance to our life?

Nutrition means nurturing the body with the nutrients it needs to breathe, to function, to live. Nutrients come from food we eat daily and it is classified as Calories that gives energy and vitamins and minerals that regulate our body’s many functions. Our body needs an acceptable amount of nutrients to function properly; if not, then we will face the consequences.

Nutrition plays an important role in our life. Nutrition and health work hand in hand- without proper nutrition, one cannot expect to have good health. Given that our body is made up of tiny cells that do the tricks of living, these same cells need the nutrients from our food, if they are to function properly. When the body receives less nutrients than it needs then it sacrifices its cells to continue functioning,; on the other hand, when the body receives too much than it needs it will slowly develop into a disease. This is the simplest explanation why people who can’t afford to buy food suddenly die while the people who overeat develop chronic diseases like diabetes and cancer. Thus, without proper nutrition we slowly kill our cells and harm our health. And so it means, to have a healthy body and to live a better life we need to start living a nutritious lifestyle.
